Whether for religious and cultural reasons, as a result of a health condition or for hygiene reasons, we work with a team of Urologists, who can perform circumcisions to remove the foreskin from your penis. If you are experiencing problems such as the tightening or thickening of your foreskin, a circumcision is a simple procedure to relieve the painful symptoms.

Supportive advice from our urology teams

If you are not sure whether a circumcision may be beneficial for you, you can book a consultation with a Urologist at KIMS Hospital or Sevenoaks Medical Centre. The Consultant will be able to discuss your needs and any medical symptoms to provide advice around the best way forward.

FAQs

Where will my procedure take place?

Regardless of where you had your initial consultation, all surgical procedures take place at KIMS Hospital in Maidstone. Most outpatient appointments, including scans and tests, and follow up appointments with your Consultant, can take place at either KIMS Hospital or Sevenoaks Medical Centre.

What does a circumcision procedure involve?

Circumcision is carried out under general anaesthetic and usually takes around 30 minutes. The Consultant will remove the foreskin and stitch the edges of the skin together. You will then be transferred back to your room to rest, and you should be able to return home on the same day.

Does circumcision hurt?

It is normal for the penis to be bruised and sore after the operation, and this should subside after a week. You should not drive or operate machinery for 24 hours after the operation, and you should be able to return to work after about a week. Your Consultant will advise you further on your recovery during follow up consultations.
