The first step is to book a consultation with an Orthopaedic Consultant to discuss your condition, current symptoms and medical history. You can choose to have your consultation at KIMS Hospital or Sevenoaks Medical Centre. While some treatments are available at both of our facilities, if you need surgery, this will be carried out at KIMS Hospital in Maidstone.

Orthopaedic Surgery FAQs
What is orthopaedic surgery?
Orthopaedic surgery is a specialised practice focused on diagnosing, treating, and managing conditions related to the musculoskeletal system. Procedures in orthopaedic surgery can address a variety of issues such as arthritis, traumatic injuries, congenital deformities, and degenerative diseases. By using both surgical and non-surgical techniques, orthopaedic surgeons aim to restore function, reduce pain, and improve the quality of life for their patients.
How painful is orthopaedic surgery?
During surgery you will receive regional anaesthesia which numbs the targeted area to prevent you from feeling pain during surgery. Post surgery your healthcare team will advise you on aftercare recommendations which will include if you can take any further medication.
Can I drive after orthopaedic surgery?
Post surgery, we recommend you arrange transport prior to your appointment to take you home. When you have regained motion with no pain then it is okay to start driving again.
