Dr Gerald George qualified in Medicine at the University of Southampton in 1990. As part of his early career he quickly developed an interest in Rheumatology and went on to specialise in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine which included training in the prestigious Rheumatology units of Guy’s, St Thomas’ and St George’s Hospitals.
He is now an Independent Consultant Rheumatologist and Physician with 18 years’ experience as an NHS Consultant in Rheumatology. Whilst working for the NHS at Medway Hospital, he was the lead clinician for the Rheumatology Department for seven years and also the Clinical Director for Planned Specialty Medicine that included Rheumatology, Dermatology, Neurology and GU Medicine.
Dr George covers all aspects of adult Rheumatology including inflammatory arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, connective tissue diseases, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Sjogren’s syndrome, systemic sclerosis, osteoarthritis, gout, polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) & giant cell arteritis (temporal arteritis or GCA), fibromyalgia, metabolic bone diseases, osteoporosis & osteomalacia, back pain, and soft tissue rheumatism which includes tendonitis, tenosynovitis, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, plantar fasciitis and carpal tunnel syndrome.
