The cardiac team at KIMS has won the prestigious Laing Buisson Nursing Practice Award at a black tie event in central London.
The team from KIMS beat several shortlisted hospitals from around the UK including The Royal Marsden Hospital in London. The judges were impressed with the way the team works with patients from pre assessment to discharge. The team, led by Anne Hatswell, cared for 338 patients in its first year, with high levels of patient satisfaction.
KIMS also runs an ongoing patient care programme called Heart2Heart and Anne and the team run the interventional tests as part of this package. The team has also been promoting heart health to the wider public in Kent. Earlier this year to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, they carried out 355 free healthy heart checks on members of the public.
Anne said: “On behalf of the team I am absolutely thrilled that our work at KIMS has been recognised by this award. We are a young team, having been working together since the hospital opened just over 18 months ago and to beat such well established teams in hospitals up and down the country is simply fantastic.”
KIMS was also shortlisted last night for the Private Hospital Group of the year and consultant Dr Phyllis Holt was shortlisted for the outstanding contribution award.
Simon James, Chief Executive of KIMS Hospital said: “This is a very well deserved award for the team and I am delighted their incredible hard work and dedication has been recognised. KIMS is new to the private health sector here in Kent, having opened in April 2014 and we are all working hard to ensure award winning care is given at every opportunity and the results of our patient satisfaction shows our nursing care is considered excellent and highly regarded. We were delighted to have been shortlisted for three awards but for the team to win is testament to their fantastic work.”
KIMS was recently a finalist in the Health Investor Awards and in September was awarded the Excellence in Cardiology and Heart Surgery, Kent and the Best Independent Hospital Kent, in the Global Health and Pharma Magazine Awards, 2015. The Global Health and Pharma Magazine Awards recognise all levels and all aspects of the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors and are awarded throughout the year.
