KIMS Hospital receives ‘Good’ rating from Care Quality Commission (CQC)
Blog News 11th April 2018 Enquiries & appointmentsOnly four year’s since opening, KIMS Hospital has been rated ‘Good’ across all areas of its service by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). In addition, the inspectors found a number of areas of Outstanding practise across the hospital, including for our cardiac catheterisation laboratory which is part of the only interventional cardiology suite in an independent hospital in Kent.
Simon James, CEO, KIMS Hospital comments, “I am delighted with the findings of the CQC inspection but we are not resting on our laurels. This is a clear vindication of the hard work everyone at the hospital has put in; all our staff, and the Consultants and Doctors should rightly be proud of what we have achieved working together. All of us at KIMS Hospital remain passionate about delivering safe, outstanding, quality care and the next step must be to work towards an Outstanding rating across the hospital.”
In addition to the ‘Good’ rating for the three main areas of service at KIMS Hospital; medical care, surgery and outpatients and diagnostics imaging, the CQC noted ‘Outstanding’ practice across other areas of the hospital. In particular;
- in medical care for the cardiac catheterisation laboratory where comprehensive risk assessments are carried out for all patients including the World Health Organisation checklist for surgery
- ‘KIMS Hospital Angels’ who are local volunteers providing additional support to patients
- KIMS Hospital’s strong commitment to staff engagement including staff forums, team events, family fun days and the direct links staff have with the Executive Team through ‘KIMS Voice’, our staff forum where staff are encouraged to directly communicate their views, ideas and concerns about the hospital to the management team.
“As the largest independent hospital in Kent, KIMS Hospital is committed to a culture of continual improvement and development to ensure we achieve “Outstanding” across all areas of service. Building on our success to date and continuing to provide the highest quality healthcare services for local people is our priority.” Simon James concludes.
