Celebrating Nurses’ Day and ODP Day

Blog News 13th May 2019 Enquiries & appointments

Today we’ve been celebrating Nurses’ Day and Operating Department Practitioners’ Day.

Nurses Day was on Sunday 12th May, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. Operating Department Practitioners’ Day is celebrated on Tuesday 14th May, so we’ve combined both days into one celebration on Monday 13th.

Jackie, our Chief Nurse, Kat, our Deputy Chief Nurse and Pete, our Theatre Manager hosted a coffee morning for our staff to celebrate our Nursing and Theatre teams and thank them for the amazing job they do caring for our patients.

Jackie says, “I am delighted to be celebrating Nurses Day and Operating Department Practitioners’ Day with my teams at KIMS Hospital. The two days recognise the integral role that our nurses and theatre practitioners play in delivering safe, outstanding quality healthcare.

Our patients are at the heart of everything we do, and our nurses and theatre practitioners demonstrate this with their dedication and commitment to all of the patients that we treat.  I would like to personally thank each and every one for embracing our vision and values, and demonstrating these every day in their approach to caring for our patients”.

Getting creative

Along with coffee & cupcakes, we had a bit of fun by setting our teams a creative challenge to use a range of supplies to make a piece of art out of a cardboard bedpan!

Here are a few of the creations:

“Why I love my job”

Our teams have also been joining Nurses across the country by sharing why they love their job.

A few of the highlights:

“I love my job because I feel I can make a difference to people’s lives & I am encouraged to seek better ways of working to provide outstanding care to the people of Kent”

“I love my job because I enjoy helping people”

“I love my job because I make patients happy, I can affect their experience and KIMS Hospital is like a second family”
