Professional Profile
Dr James Wilson looks after patients both privately and in the NHS, seeing patients with acute, chronic and cancer pain problems. His routine work includes performing a wide range of evidence based interventional techniques to relieve pain under X-ray and Ultrasound guidance including epidurals, facet joint injections and radiofrequency ablations. He has a special interest in improving standards of care in radiofrequency ablations for facet joint pain.
Dr Wilson studied Biochemistry before Medicine, specialising in Molecular Neurobiology. He then trained at Guys & St Thomas’ Medical School and at the St George’s School of Anaesthesia. He underwent advanced training in regional anaesthesia and pain medicine. He gained the highest recorded marks for the FFPMRCA pain examination.
Dr Wilson has extensive experience in cancer pain management at St Christopher’s Hospice in South London. He remains involved in cancer pain management working alongside the Kent Oncology Centre with links to the Heart of Kent Hospice and Hospice in the Weald.
He teaches at the Royal College of Anaesthetists on Pain and Opiates and lectures on Interventional Pain Management on the Palliative Care MSc at Kings College London.
