Sleep Apnoea Service
KIMS Hospital is pleased to be offering a brand new Diagnostic Sleep Service with our Respiratory Physiologist leading the service.Obstructive sleep apnoea is a serious respiratory condition that causes sufferers to repeatedly stop breathing while they are asleep, usually due to obstruction of the airway.
The main symptoms include loud snoring, making choking noises while you sleep, or feeling very tired during the day. It can affect people of any age or gender. Lifestyle factors such as smoking, being overweight, and a lack of exercise can all increase the risk of sleep apnoea. Sleep apnoea can have serious health implications if left untreated
With our Diagnostics Sleep Service patients will be given a watch to wear for a period of time whilst you sleep. This will be able to record things such as heart rate, oximetry, body position, snoring and chest motion. Data will be sent to an app and once the study is completed a clinician will review the results to discuss these further.
