Menopause & HRT services
Each woman’s experience of the menopause is unique and therefore a one size fits all approach to managing the menopause does not work effectively.
The menopause is when a woman stops having periods and is no longer able to get pregnant naturally. It is caused by a change in the balance of the body’s sex hormones, which occurs as you get older. The age at which symptoms can begin, together with their severity and the length of time it can take to pass through the menopause will vary greatly from woman to woman.
Effective management will be available not only to those women experiencing classical menopausal problems, but also to women suffering a premature menopause, including BRCA cases. One of the key features of our service is that it permits women to have dedicated time with a gynaecologist to discuss their concerns, with access to a full range of state-of-the-art diagnostics, thereby enabling the most appropriate treatment plan to be provided.
Symptoms can include:
- flushes
- sweats
- tiredness
- lack of sleep
- headaches
- memory and cognitive changes
- mood lability and anxiety
- vaginal dryness
- sexual problems
Modern hormone replacement therapy (HRT) regimes are extremely effective at controlling these symptoms and the impact can be quite literally life-changing.
