Healthy prostate assessment

Not everyone will have symptoms of prostate cancer. That’s why we offer a healthy prostate assessment for men without symptoms who want peace of mind that their prostate is healthy.

The assessment is a two-stage process available to men over the age of 40. The first stage is to have a PSA blood test (Prostate-Specific Antigen test) and a urinalysis. The blood test measures the amount of PSA in your blood and can help to identify if there any problems with your prostate. The urinalysis checks your health status and can help to detect some diseases and infections.

Talking to our GP about prostate health can take away your worries

The second stage of the healthy prostate assessment is to have a consultation with a KIMS Hospital GP who will take a detailed family history, identify your IPS (International Prostate Symptom) Score, perform a digital rectum examination and review the results of your PSA test and urinalysis. The prostate is a complex gland and no one test can identify if you are at risk of prostate cancer. This assessment will help the GP to indicate your level of risk of prostate cancer and may highlight if you have any infections or an enlarged prostate that may need treatment.

Expert advice to help you navigate your treatment options

We understand that urology conditions can be distressing and that you will want to receive fast, effective treatment. If your healthy prostate assessment identifies that you need further tests, scans or treatment, the GP, nurses and Consultant Urologists will support you every step of the way.
