Mr Mike Thilagarajah

Mike Thilagarajah is a senior Consultant of seventeen years standing specialising in disorders of the hip, knee and foot and ankle, including hip replacement, knee replacement, ankle surgery, bunion surgery, ankle arthroscopy, and keyhole knee surgery / meniscus surgery.

He graduated from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, and completed his higher surgical training in Orthopaedics on the Guy’s and St Thomas’ rotation. He has wide ranging experience in problems of the lower limbs, taking a holistic approach in the assessment of interactions of the joints from hip to toe. He is Trauma Lead, Fractured Hip Lead, Foot and Ankle Lead, and College Tutor for Orthopaedics at his base NHS hospital.

His passion for ensuring patients get optimal care, and his involvement in many innovations of practice, resulted in him being awarded a number of NHS excellence awards. He places communication high on his agenda, and does his utmost to ensure his patients understand their diagnoses and options, to enable them to make informed decisions.

He regularly teaches on surgical skills courses with the Royal College of Surgeons, and has very high standards both in the assessments of his patients and in the surgery he offers them.
