Self pay options Using your insurance Enquiries & appointmentsThe foot and ankle are a complex network of soft tissue and bone, made up of 28 bones and 33 joints. Pain in these areas is commonly caused by overloading the ankle or Achilles tendon, which can occur through everyday movement or sports activity, but can also develop as we age. If you are struggling with pain in your feet or ankles, the first step is to book a consultation with one of our therapists to help diagnose the cause.
Providing you with a comprehensive range of treatments
Once the problem has been diagnosed, we can provide the following treatments to ease your pain and help speed up your recovery:
Soft tissue massage
Direct manipulation of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissue to alleviate pain and help with the healing of soft tissue injury.
Exercise therapy and tailored exercise programmes
Your therapist will put together a plan of physical activity and exercises designed for specific conditions, tailored to your needs to keep you fit and healthy.
Acupuncture
Derived from Eastern medicine, acupuncture involves stimulating specific sensory nerves in the muscles in order to provide relief from chronic, joint, muscle and post-operation pain.
Gym-based rehabilitation
Our therapists can provide you with tailored one-to-one sessions designed to get you moving without causing any further problems.
Sports taping
This involves applying sports tape to the skin to stabilise the position of muscles and bones during activity. This can help to reduce pain when exercising and aids the recovery of injuries.
Education and advice
We’ll explain every step of your treatment journey to you, including post-hospital care. Our experts will advise you on the best course of action, empowering you to support your recovery.
Shockwave therapy
This involves the use of soundwaves targeted into the injured tissue to stimulate repair and help to relieve pain.
Foot & ankle pain FAQs
What should I do if I have pain in my foot or ankle?
Anyone suffering with foot or ankle pain, including referred pain to the knees or legs, can book a consultation with one of our therapists to discuss your current issues, lifestyle and medical history.
What happens if I need a scan?
If a clinical need is identified for an MRI scan during your initial assessment, your physical therapist will be able to help you with this. An MRI scan, and subsequent follow-up appointment with your physical therapist to discuss the results, can be arranged through the imaging team and physical therapy team.
An MRI scan is usually taken of one part of the body but occasionally, to help with diagnosis if there is referred pain an MRI scan might be taken of two or more parts of the body.
1 part MRI = £420
2 part MRI = £700
A free follow-up appointment with your physical therapists will also be arranged, lasting approximately 15 minutes. During this appointment the results of your scan will be discussed, as well as your options for onward treatment.
What happens if I need an onward referral to a relevant Consultant?
If, during your initial assessment or following an MRI scan, your physical therapist recommends an onward referral to a relevant Consultant, your physical therapist will be able to help you with this and will discuss your options.
What happens if I need further physical therapy treatment?
If your Physical Therapist determines that your foot or ankle pain can be treated through Physical Therapy, they will be able to support you in booking ongoing treatment with the most appropriate expert working within the Physical Therapy department.
Follow-up appointments with the Physical Therapy team cost £47.
